Science is the process of doing systematic research to learn about the general principles that govern the way the universe works. The following list shows the scientific process or the scientific method of doing things. Your textbook or teacher may use slightly different terms or add steps, but these are the general steps and they are completed in this order:
Question or Purpose (this begins with curiosity about something)
Hypothesis (an educated guess or prediction about what the answer will be)
Experiment (controlled and repeatable, includes the Materials and Procedure)
Observations (carefully made and recorded, using all of your senses)
Conclusion or Observations (statement about hypothesis)
Report or Communicate (tells what was found)
