Step 4: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
The chemical storage area in your science classroom (if you are in a school) has WHMIS labels on all the containers. This system is used across Canada in every workplace that uses chemicals, ranging from janitorial cleaners to gasoline to Level 5 biohazard research labs! Each chemical comes with an Information Sheet which lists all the known research on its toxic effects.
Look at the following Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) symbols. Make sure you can recall the symbol with its meaning.
