    Study Skill Techniques—Concept Map

    Here is how you make a concept map:

    Step 1. Write the theme in the middle of a piece of paper.
    Step 2. Draw a circle around the theme.
    Step 3. Draw a 3cm line from the edge of the circle outward.
    Step 4. Write a related topic to the theme.
    Step 5. Draw a square around the topic.
    Step 6. Write a connecting word or phrase along the line that connects the theme with the topic.
    Step 7. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for additional topics.
    Step 8. When you have several topics, look at each one and try to find a relationship between them.
    Step 9. If you find a relationship between two topics, draw a line that connects both topics.
    Step 10. Write a connecting word or phrase along the topic-topic line.

     

    Note: You can also draw lines off the individual topics to related sub-topics
