Craigdarroch Castle

Craigdarroch Castle was built by Robert Dunsmuir, a very wealthy coal baron. The castle, completed in 1890, has 4½ stories, 39 rooms and 20,000 square feet of space! The beautiful stained glass, elaborate woodwork, and lavish furnishings make it a very special building. The castle was sold in 1908. It has since been used as a military hospital, a college, an office building, and a music conservatory. Today, Craigdarroch Castle is a museum and a popular heritage attraction for tourists.
