Their responsibilities include:
- Designing, supervising, and assessing the educational program and reporting on the progress of the student to parents
- Developing IEPs
- Identifying responsibilities of individual members of student specific support teams in terms of participating in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the programs as described in the IEP
- Planning learning activities
- Determining appropriate modifications and adaptations in line with IEP goals
- Instructing, supervising, and facilitating student learning
- Evaluating toward IEP goals
- Reporting to parents informally and with formal written reports
Educational Assistant (EA)
Their responsibilities include:
- Assisting the teacher with implementing instructional programs
- Facilitating meaningful inclusion
- Assisting in the collection of data to evaluate student progress
- Assisting students who require personal health routines
- Gathering information through working directly with students to assist with program planning and evaluation
- Preparing instructional materials
- Implementing strategies to accommodate the needs of individual learners
- Facilitating student learning individually and in small groups
- Providing information to the teacher for home/school formal and informal communication
Learning Support Teacher
Their responsibilities include:
- Developing IEPs
- Participating on the school-based team
- Providing case management
- Collaborating with itinerant and specialist staff
- Assisting classroom teacher to assess students with complex needs
Administrator
Their responsibilities include:
- Directly responsible for all the students in their school
- Guiding the development of a shared mission and goals
- Modelling and creating a school community that supports all learners
- Facilitating an environment that supports collaboration
- Allocating staff and resources
- Providing staff training and release time
- Contacting parents
Case Manager
Their responsibilities include:
- Facilitating meetings and IEPs
- Communicating between all members of the team
Counsellor
Their responsibilities include:
- Acting as an advocate for all students
- Providing individual and small group support
- Assisting in facilitating transitions within and between schools
