Module 6: ARC-BC
Searching ARC-BC
Once a user is registered, there are a few different ways to search the ARC-BC repository:
- To check for a specific book, a quick search by title, author, ISBN, or keywords is generally the simplest way to search.
- Sometimes, a user might want to search more broadly to get an idea of what books ARC-BC has on certain subject areas or in specific formats. Using the Advanced Search feature, users can search by variables such as grade level, format, and subject area.
- The search tips on the ARC-BC website can be used to help put together a more effective search.

Case Example: Rena (continued)
Ms. Campbell registers as a user of ARC-BC. When chatting with Rena’s EA, she learned about books in the format of narrated PowerPoint files that could be controlled by a student using a clicker. She knows that the class will be working on a unit about different types of animals soon, and wants to make sure she has some resources that are accessible to Rena. She logs into ARC-BC and sets up an advanced search for books about animals that are in PowerPoint format, appropriate for grade levels one through five. She finds that there are about 120 results on ARC-BC with this search. To narrow it down further, she limits her search to non-fiction books, which returns nine results.
