Another technique for learning vocabulary is the use of index or flash cards.
- Write the key term on one side of the card and the definition or image on the other side.
- Study the vocabulary by reading the term and then checking that you know the definition before flipping the card, or vice versa. You can also have someone else use the cards to test you.
- Sometimes it helps to put the cards into three piles: "terms I know", "terms I sort of know", and "terms I still need to learn". The goal is to eventually get all of the cards into the "I know" pile.
