Module 5: Roles and Responsibilities—Inclusion and the Educational Team
Introduction
Students with complex needs are by definition complex. When a student presents with a unique combination of intellectual, physical, sensory, neurological, and medical disabilities, it is clear that no one individual would have the range of expertise to meet their needs. The complexity of students with multiple disabilities requires an extensive network of support. In this module, you will explore and develop an understanding of the varied areas of expertise and responsibilities of each of the team members providing supports to students. There will be opportunities to reflect on your expertise and understand how team collaboration supports inclusion.
What will you learn:
- Who are the individual team members and what are their areas of expertise and responsibilities
- Who you can call to support the complexities of a student with multiple disabilities
- Inclusion Outreach’s transdisciplinary approach
- How to avoid the common issues with responsibility confusion
- Understand how team collaboration supports inclusion
