Public school employees are supported by the BCPSEA – an association that provides human resource services for the K-12 public education system. The following courses have been developed by the BCPSEA to help maintain healthy workplaces.

Exams for the course are within Brightspace for tracking purposes. There are three exams available, each aligning to a section of the Early Learning Framework. Successful completion of each exam can count towards professional development requirements for Early Childhood Educators.

These courses on food safety are designed for anyone who works in the food service industry. FOODSAFE courses can be used in B.C. and across Canada to meet the requirements for food safety training.

FOODSAFE Level 1 Mandatory instruction for food service employees. Course content covers food handling sanitation and worker safety, including food-borne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing.

FOODSAFE Level 1 Refresher A short refresher course designed for people who already have their FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate and would like to renew it. The course covers key safe food handling information including the causes of food-borne illness, receiving and storing food, serving food and cleaning and sanitizing.

FOODSAFE Level 2 Instruction for anyone responsible for managing food safety in food service establishments (e.g. foodservice owners, managers, kitchen managers, or executive chefs). This course includes a short review of FOODSAFE Level 1 along with instruction on managing food safety and writing a food safety plan.

MarketSafe Online

Learn about responsibilities and best practices for selling goods at your local market. This program provides training on food safety and safe food handling procedures for those involved with temporary markets (e.g. farmers' markets, artisan markets) – this includes market vendors, managers, farmers, food processors, and others who may make, bake or produce food products.

Introduction to Food Microbiology

The high-level objective of Introduction to Food Microbiology is to increase awareness and knowledge of food safety and safe food handling procedures as they relate to the principles of food microbiology.
