Take an Online Course

 

Sign up for an online career training course. All you need is:

  • An email address
  • A computer with sound and high speed Internet access (1 MBPS or better)
  • Basic computer knowledge

Public school employees are supported by the BCPSEA – an association that provides human resource services for the K-12 public education system. The following courses have been developed by the BCPSEA to help maintain healthy workplaces.


Awareness and Prevention of Harassment

All B.C. public school employees are required to complete training on workplace harassment awareness and prevention.

Attendance and Wellness

Learn strategies that supervisors or managers can use to support employee health and wellness on their team.

The provincial government has self-guided courses for its employees to support professional development and provide strategies that help with effective service delivery. Generally, these courses are available through the PSA Learning Centre. However, employees who work for the BC Assessment Authority and BC Transit will access their courses here.


Building Capacity in Aboriginal Relations (BCAR) – “We are All Here to Stay”

Gain a deeper understanding of BC’S Aboriginal population and learn about the provincial government's commitment to a strong indigenous presence in the workplace and culturally appropriate business practices. This course will demonstrate the stepping stones for initiating a necessary conversation about the past, present, and future of indigenous people in BC.

PCMP 110: Procurement Foundations

Learn basic skills and principles related to the B.C. government procurement and contract management process.

A course designed to help individuals prepare for the Canadian Pesticide Applicator Certification exam. Training is focused on the safe use of pesticides as well as pest control and prevention with minimal environmental impact.

These courses on food safety are designed for anyone who works in the food service industry. FOODSAFE courses can be used in B.C. and across Canada to meet the requirements for food safety training.

FOODSAFE Level 1 Mandatory instruction for food service employees. Course content covers food handling sanitation and worker safety, including food-borne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing.

FOODSAFE Level 1 Refresher A short refresher course designed for people who already have their FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate and would like to renew it. The course covers key safe food handling information including the causes of food-borne illness, receiving and storing food, serving food and cleaning and sanitizing.

Food Safety Basics A review of safe food handling practices intended for owners, supervisors or managers in food service who have already completed FOODSAFE Level 1 and have applied to take the a face-to-face FOODSAFE Level 2 course.

FOODSAFE Level 2 Instruction for anyone responsible for managing food safety in food service establishments (e.g. foodservice owners, managers, kitchen managers, or executive chefs). This program provides training on food safety and safe food handling procedures for those involved with temporary markets (e.g. farmers' markets, artisan markets) – this includes market vendors, managers, farmers, food processors, and others who may make, bake or produce food products.
