Lesson
3: Protecting Citizenship Rights
One of the benefits of citizenship in a democratic country like Canada
is that you are guaranteed many rights and freedoms. For example,
Canadians are guaranteed equal rights and treatment regardless of
factors such as age, gender, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and
political affiliation. Canadian citizens are also free to express
opinions, to protest, and to live as they choose, so long as they
do not endanger others or break any laws.
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms lists all the rights and freedoms
that are guaranteed to Canadian citizens.
